“Detourism: La newsletter di Venezia”, the official Town of Venice Tourism Office Newsletter, is telling us how getting lost in Venice is indeed a true art! Enjoy your reading!

Venice’s exceptional beauty: hidden gems and places off the beaten track.

Getting lost in Venice, in the labyrinth of its canals, among the centuries-old palaces and churches, is something unique. Far from the crowds and the usual clichés, Venice still holds hidden treasures for those who know how to wander off the beaten track.

Beyond the Grand Canal palaces and must-see monuments, there are many other stunning places in Venice: hidden churches, beautiful gardens inside an ancient palaces, or squeri, where gondolas have been built for centuries. It’s up to us to take the time to open ourselves to the charm of secluded calli (backstreets) and silent canals, looking with other eyes at what everyone sees.

Here are the 12 good rules for the responsible visitor, a sort of handbook with advice and recommendations to become travellers that are more aware and respectful towards Venice’s landscape, environment, artistic beauties and identity.
