TREASURES OF VENICE
A journey among the churches of the patron Saints

The churches of Venice are over a hundred. There are several saints who watch over the city, invoked by the Venetians for centuries, of which precious relics and art treasures are preserved.

So here is an itinerary that takes us back in time, in places sometimes little known, through the districts of the ancient city, but that goes all the way to the lagoon. A journey from church to church, from the most famous to the most forgotten ones. The convent of the island of San Francesco del Deserto, the Basilica of San Marco, the Basilica dei Frari and the Basilica of the Madonna della Salute. The church of San Rocco, San Francesco della Vigna and San Pantalon. And then the Scuole Grandi (or “Great Schools”) of San Teodoro, San Marco and San Rocco. But also the sanctuary of Lucia, a Syracusan martyr. All places that have a lot to reveal and equally to tell.

Detourism is the awareness campaign of the City of Venice to promote a sustainable and conscious concept of tourism. It suggests routes off the beaten track to travellers in search of a unique Venice and intends to offer insights to reduce the impact on the city and its inhabitants, providing good advice and simple practical recommendations to better enjoy the city.
