Welcome to the “Su e Zo per i Ponti di Venezia”: a unique event!
Su e Zo (“Up and Down the Bridges” walk) is a spring event that involves thousands of people in a walk for solidarity around Venice alleys: young and not-so-young people, families, school groups, sport teams, all together in a day devoted to meeting, friendship and solidarity.
Every year different itineraries twist and turn through the less known areas of the city on the water, also touching its most famous landmarks. A day of sustainable tourism, respecting the city we are in, its art, its history, its real soul and its essence.
The catch phrase: «Open up new ways!»
This year’s slogan invites the participants of the Su e Zo to pursue new paths, to discover the lesser-known places in the city, less crowded and predictable, but for this very reason more real and authentic. But the slogan is meant to say much more. Opening up new ways also means a continuous desire for novelty, relationships, evangelisation. New paths to open in one’s life. New opportunities. The beauty of being amazed every day. The road to holiness lived in everyday life, in the simplicity of each day, “there, where you are”.
Of course, breaking new ground is not always easy: as Leo, our mascot, indicates in the “Up and Down” official poster, it is necessary to have an updated map, some reference points and above all a goal to reach. Just as on the occasion of the “Up and Down the Bridges” the map is a precious help, all the human mediations that allow us to discover and walk together are important.
Any earnings coming from the “Up and Down the Bridges” walk have always been offered to groups working in the educational or social fields, especially the Salesian missions around the world.
In 2022 they have been given to the Salesian community Monte Salvado in Quebrada Honda, Perù.
The “Up and Down the Bridges” walk is a real day of celebration: several folk groups put on their performance either in Saint Mark’s square or in the smaller open spaces along the itinerary, creating a jubilation of colours and sounds that leave happy memories in everyone.

Associazione (Nuovi Oratori Italiani) – Salesiani Cooperatori – Associazione San Francesco della Vigna – with Patronage by Veneto Region, Metropolitan City of Venice, Venice City Council, North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, UN World Tourism Organisation – in collaboration with Venice City Council, Office for Events Planning & Management / Traditions Safeguarding and Office for Tourism.
