Here, highly skilled craftsmen and boat builders known as <strong><em>arsenalotti<\/em><\/strong> built ships as wells as<strong> ropes, sails, oars, artillery<\/strong>, using ground-breaking<strong>\u00a0methods<\/strong> of unparalleled efficiency, considered as <strong>State secrets<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <em>arsenalotti<\/em> were treated with great respect by the <strong>Government<\/strong> of the Serenissima, and were asked to perform very delicate tasks: they were responsible for <strong>guarding the Doges&#8217; Palace<\/strong> during the meetings of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=5%3d4ZNV7R%26z%3dT8%26D%3dGUBZ%263%3dZ9TLY%26x%3d88LsI_6sVp_G3_uqgr_56_6sVp_F8s1z33P36x3oDh.LwKlJ1My5.wL_uqgr_56sF_uqgr_5680h-C9KhK1_JTsd_TiBoQrK8-3q4-qGoBs5w93Fv_HeuS_RtAqI8AwK8ArDoD-f8oEe56K_uqgr_56tAuI8-8oE3J_uqgr_56%26r%3dExI054.DsL%26lI%3dE3d1oV4TF&amp;mupckp=mupAtu4m8OiX0wt\">the Great Council<\/a><\/strong>, the most important political body in the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the <strong>most impressive buildings<\/strong> in the southern part of the Arsenale &#8211; such as <em>Corderie<\/em>, <em>Artiglierie<\/em> and <em>Tese del Cinquecento<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; are now<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=7%3dFaVXIS%268%3dVJ%26E%3dOWNa%26A%3dbKUTa%260%3d9FN5J_Duhq_O5_7rot_G7_Duhq_N0BNI.Fp3593EwFt.FDA_7rot_G71H_7rot_G7H93L1M_7rot_G7wL860515p2w6%26z%3dG0JH7F.E1N%26xJ%3dMXFUN&amp;mupckp=mupAtu4m8OiX0wt\">utilised by the Venice Biennale as exhibition spaces<\/a><\/strong>. Since 1980 the Arsenale has become an exhibition site of La Biennale, on the occasion of the <strong>1st International Architecture Exhibition<\/strong>. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=8%3d6bRY9T%264%3dW0%26F%3dKXDb%267%3dcAVPb%26z%3d0BOuK_0vXr_K6_wsku_78_0vXr_JA2OE.Gf410sFsGj.G0B_wsku_78wI_wsku_78sMh01Oj5BPw7_0vXr_JA76f3sbJV%26i%3dECN15I.IjL%261N%3d6VIY7&amp;mupckp=mupAtu4m8OiX0wt\">17th International Architecture Exhibition<\/a><\/strong> will be open until 21 November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The North Arsenale, on the other hand, can be visited for free from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. The opening to the public concerns the external spaces and the ground floor of Tesa 105 (shed). The other Tese of the North Arsenale and the Torre di Porta Nuova open to the public only during special events.<\/p>\n<p>From November 1st 2021 you will also be able to visit the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=3%3dIgITLY%26u%3dRM%26K%3dBSQg%26x%3dXNaGW%26C%3dE3J8P_1qkw_B1_0xbp_JC_1qkw_A6ET6.L1PrJ5R55.1Q_1qkw_A6wK_1qkw_A65R25CJ2_HizY_RxKjLsI-q91s8jAQxH10jB-5R25CJ_1qkw_A6%26v%3dJ4ID00.DwQ%26rI%3dIa0TJ&amp;mupckp=mupAtu4m8OiX0wt\">Padiglione delle navi (Ships Pavilion)<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; an annexe of the <a href=\"https:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=6%3d7fVW0X%268%3dUA%26J%3dOVEf%26A%3daBZTZ%261%3dDFMvO_DtYv_O4_xwos_8B_DtYv_N93SI.FgN5Gg.059kOw.Bz_NmvV_X2hT_NmvV_X2AoOFHxU_DtYv_N9sQE84g7w1IE_KWyl_Ulvw0oJ1_KWyl_UlIGLkKEMuN56uJwOgH1.4yLJ%267%3dsQEOiW.08z%26EE%3dT0WPU&amp;mupckp=mupAtu4m8OiX0wt\"><strong>Naval History Museum<\/strong><\/a> of the Italian Navy &#8211; located in the ancient &#8220;oars workshop&#8221; of the Arsenale.
