\"\"<\/a>14 weelchair friendly tours exploring Venice and its islands<\/h2>\n

Venice city centre has a 14 km network of barrier-free pedestrian paths<\/strong>, reaching some of the most famous parts of the city, that are\u00a0 accessible for those in wheelchairs, slow walkers and people with limited mobility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Venice historic centre is made up of 129 islets<\/strong>, connected by over 400 bridges<\/strong>, yet m<\/strong>ore than half of the islets<\/strong> are wheelchair-accessible<\/strong> , either travelling by public transport or using the ramps to get across the bridges<\/strong>. Also, Venice transport authority AVM\/Actv offers transport concessions<\/a> <\/strong>for disabled travellers.<\/p>\n

So far, 14 wheelchairs-accessible itineraries have been mapped and published on Venice City Council website<\/a><\/strong> , from Piazza San Marco to Rialto bridge, from the Zattere to Frari church, up to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Each tour shows a description of the points of interest as well as precise indications on the accessibility of the places to visit.<\/p>\n
