\u201cDetourism: Venice newsletter\u201d<\/strong>, the newsletter prepared by the Tourism Office of the Town of Venice, is sent free of charge to hundreds of subscribers every week, providing valuable food for thought and insights on the history, art and culture of Venice.
\nWe are proud to publish some\u00a0selected contents of such newsletter (see previous post: \u201cDetourism for the Up and Down the Bridges<\/a>\u201c). On our website, in several episodes, we will only present some samples (see all posts in our archive page “Detourism Newsletter<\/a>“), but the invitation addressed to all the friends of the Up and Down the Bridges is to fill in the online form<\/a> proposed by the Town of Venice to receive it directly in their email box every week.
\nSpecial thanks to the Councillor for Tourism for having enthusiastically welcomed this new important collaboration between TGS Eurogroup and the Tourism Office of the Town of Venice<\/strong> and for giving us the precious opportunity to publish on the pages of this blog some extracts from this newsletter, both in Italian and in English.<\/em>
\nAs previously announced, (see post “Detourism: Venice’s neighbourhood”<\/a>), we are currently discovering all Venetian neighbourhood, one by one<\/strong>! Following San Marco, Castello, Cannaregio, San Polo and Santa Croce, last but not least it’s now time to discover Dorsoduro district<\/strong>. Enjoy the reading!<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Entrare nei musei di Dorsoduro<\/strong> \u00e8 come viaggiare lungo un millennio della storia dell\u2019arte mondiale<\/strong>, tutto racchiuso in poco pi\u00f9 di un miglio, tra il Canal Grande e il canale della Giudecca. Si chiama Dorsoduro Museum Mile<\/strong> lo straordinario percorso artistico dall\u2019antico al contemporaneo che lega quattro prestigiose istituzioni culturali di Venezia: dai capolavori della pittura veneziana medievale e rinascimentale delle Gallerie dell\u2019Accademia<\/a><\/strong>, ai protagonisti della scena dell\u2019arte contemporanea esposti a Punta della Dogana<\/a><\/strong>, passando per le due straordinarie case-museo di Vittorio Cini<\/a><\/strong> e di Peggy Guggenheim<\/a><\/strong>, che ospitano le collezioni di questi grandi mecenati insieme a mostre temporanee.<\/p>\n

Le chiese dei grandi maestri veneziani<\/strong><\/p>\n

Le chiese\u00a0di Dorsoduro custodiscono molte delle opere d\u2019arte pi\u00f9 significative dei maestri veneziani<\/strong>, dal Cinquecento al Settecento. La chiesa di San Sebastiano<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00e8 nota come \u201cil tempio\u201d di Paolo Caliari, detto il Veronese<\/strong>, uno degli artisti di spicco della citt\u00e0: qui \u00e8 raccolto il suo grandioso ciclo pittorico<\/strong>, che suscit\u00f2 grandissimo interesse sin dal momento della sua esecuzione.<\/p>\n

Nelle vicinanze, la Scuola Grande dei Carmini<\/strong><\/a>, attigua alla chiesa omonima, \u00e8 il luogo dove tra il 1739 e il 1749 Giambattista Tiepolo<\/strong> fu chiamato dalla prestigiosa confraternita devota alla Vergine del Carmelo a dipingere le nove tele del soffitto della Sala del Capitolo<\/strong>. Sono ritenute tra i suoi capolavori.<\/p>\n

Sulla volta del soffitto della chiesa di San Pantalon<\/a><\/strong> \u00e8 fissato quello che \u00e8 considerato\u00a0il dipinto\u00a0pi\u00f9 grande al mondo<\/strong>:\u00a0ben 443 metri quadrati! Sono 40 tele unite fra loro, che rappresentano il martirio di San Pantaleone, opera del maestro veneziano Giovanni Antonio Fumiani, che la realizz\u00f2 tra il 1680 e il 1704.<\/p>\n

Nell’area di Punta della Dogana, svetta la cupola della Basilica della Salute<\/a><\/strong>, capolavoro barocco<\/strong> di Baldassare Longhena. La sacrestia della basilica \u00e8 un vero e proprio scrigno di tesori, custodisce opere del Tiziano, Tintoretto e altre opere di grande bellezza. Il biglietto di ingresso permette l’accesso anche alla Pinacoteca Manfrediniana<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Il trionfo del Settecento veneziano\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Ca\u2019 Rezzonico<\/a><\/strong>, uno dei pi\u00f9 bei palazzi sul Canal Grande, si rivive la bella vita dei nobili veneziani nel Settecento:<\/strong> sono qui esposti straordinari dipinti e affresch<\/strong>i del tempo, da Tiepolo a Rosalba Carriera, da Longhi a Guardi e Canaletto. I tesori custoditi nel palazzo si possono scoprire anche grazie al virtual tour<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

L\u2019ora dell\u2019aperitivo<\/strong><\/p>\n

All’ora dell\u2019aperitivo, i tavolini dei locali affacciati su Campo Santa Margherita<\/strong>, aperti fino a tardi la sera, sono il luogo di ritrovo preferito degli universitari (poco distante, c\u2019\u00e8 la sede dell\u2019Universit\u00e0 Ca\u2019 Foscari<\/strong>, ecco un tour virtuale<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>per esplorarla). Di giorno, il campo \u00e8 rallegrato dai banchi di pesce, frutta e verdura<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
