Or else, the church where<strong> Antonio Vivaldi<\/strong> was baptized, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=0%3dCdJaFV%26v%3dYG%26H%3dCYKX%26y%3deHXHd%268m5k7%3dB4Q2_Lazb_Wk_OcwZ_Yr_Lazb_VpT9Q.3Dn54QuM48uHlOmAyOm.C4_OcwZ_Yr%268%3dwR5PmX.z94%26F5%3dUCYEZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Giovanni in Bragora<\/a><\/strong>, which houses an <strong>altarpiece<\/strong> by <strong>Giambattista Cima Da Conegliano<\/strong>, and the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=A%3d7ZBb0R%26n%3dZA%26D%3d5ZET%26q%3dfBT0e%261%3d8vRv_HS1V_Sc_PWsR_Zl_HS1V_RhU3M.kQz9vSzEgJr5pGiE.qPm_HS1V_RhCt7nGy8_tyYp_4DsKuCu_HS1V_9g1cRhGt4gV.nJoJ%26j%3dCwQ233.LkJ%26kQ%3d7S4aB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hellenic Museum of Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons<\/a><\/strong>, unique in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The very heart of Castello is the <strong>island of San Pietro di Castello<\/strong>, one of the first urban nuclei of Venice and the first religious, political and commercial centre of the city. The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=6%3d4bSW7T%265%3dU8%26F%3dLUBV%268%3da9VQZ%26x%3d0CMsK_AtVr_L4_usls_58_AtVr_K9zOF.6kGANvNxGhR24.rJz_KTui_Ui77_KTui_Ui4tLlD26d-Gy-LdF-9B4d3thLAH-gA-v4vLxEoG%26w%3dFxKE64.FxM%26lK%3dJV5UO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Basilica of San Pietro di Castello<\/a><\/strong> had been Venice\u2019s cathedral and the seat of the Patriarch of Venice until 1807, when the title was transferred by Napoleon to San Marco.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The <em>campo<\/em> in front of the basilica gives us an idea of what<strong><em> campi<\/em>\u00a0looked like in ancient times<\/strong>: it is one of the last <strong>covered with grass<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the best starting points for a walk in Castello is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=3%3dLgJTOY%26v%3dRP%26K%3dCRTa%26y%3dXQaHW%26F%3dE4JAP_2qnw_C1_Cxcp_MC_2qnw_B6HT7.30J5Dz.SoDzWs1.4Q_2qnw_B64Q_2qnw_B6xLxJzK4_HlzZ_R1SsI1v8k4Q-kHDBx17B%26n%3dCFP63L.KoJ%264P%3dASMZF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arsenale<\/a><\/strong>, which has been the <strong>largest naval factory in the world<\/strong> for centuries. A few steps from the Arsenale, there is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=7%3dMgDXPY%26p%3dVQ%26K%3d7VUa%26s%3dbRaBa%26G%3dExNBP_vuow_75_DxWt_NC_vuow_60IT1.P5PmN9Rz9.5Q_vuow_601K_vuow_609Rw9GJw_LmzT_V2KePwI-lC5w8eEQsL50eF-9Rw9GJ_vuow_60%26z%3dJyMH05.H1Q%26mM%3dMZ6WR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naval History Museum<\/a><\/strong> (explore it with a <strong><a ship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Castello is also one of the <strong>greenest areas of Venice<\/strong>: you can explore the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/comunedivenezia.musvc1.net\/e\/t?q=A%3dHfBbKX%26n%3dZL%26J%3d5ZPZ%26q%3dfMZ0e%26B%3dDvR7O_tyjv_59_9wUx_IB_tyjv_4DzOuSB.9qK_9wUx_IBeGAPfGCApCGEc_PhyR_Zw0qA0_NS1g_XhBvPqS9E9r7cuK_HZ_tyjv_4DO%260%3doS0ReY.5Av%26G0%3dW5ZJb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Napoleonic Gardens<\/a><\/strong>, the <strong>largest green area in the city centre <\/strong>(about two-thirds occupied by the <strong><a
